The Dornbirn Bulldogs look back on an extremely positive 2020/21 season in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League. In their ninth year in the league, the team from Vorarlberg reached the postseason for the fourth time and only had to admit defeat to EC Red Bull Salzburg in the quarterfinals after a tough battle. The Bulldogs announced their basic roster for the upcoming season at a fan event just under a month ago, and currently have 18 players under contract.

Under the direction of athletic trainer Simon Sengele, a series of tests of all players took place to start off the season. "The summer preparation phase is now over and the athletic tests answer questions such as whether the individually set goals were achieved in the summer," said Sengele, who also spoke about the importance of the medical tests, "Because we want to protect the players, that when they go on the ice, they are healthy." A get-to-know-you session for the cracks followed during the first dressing room walk-through, including a meeting between players, coaches and management. Head coach Kai Suikkanen then asked his team to take to the ice for the first time at Messestadion Dornbirn on Tuesday.

On Saturday, August 7, there will be a joint season opening with the cooperation partner EC Bregenzerwald from the Alps Hockey League. Both teams will present themselves to the fans. From small talk with the players to an entertaining skills competition, everything will revolve around the puck.

In the first preparation games, the Vorarlberg team will compete with teams from Switzerland. The first game will be on Friday, August 13 in Weinfelden against the Swiss League club HC Thurgau. The preseason will then continue with a highlight, the Bulldogs will meet HC Davos and the ZSC Lions at a tournament in Wil (August 19 and 20).
