Release from 21.01.2017
The last three games of the regular season are history. EC die Stadtwerke Kitzbühel, HDD Acroni Jesenice and VEU Feldkich booked wins in regular time. Because of the win of Feldkirch HC Neumarkt end the regular season on the 9th place. Bregenzerwald didn’t manage to clinch the 14th place – this place is now take by Fassa Falcons.
EK KAC – EC Stadtwerke Kitzbühel 3:6
The EC KAC started with high ambitions and a lot of pressure. After only 19 seconds Kevin Schettina hit only the post. In the 8th minute it was Kitzbühel who took the lead. Oskar Batna scored during power play. The eagles took control over the game, after a shot of Christoph Hörtnagl the defender Filip Orsah scored the rebound. Three minutes before the end of the first period Florian Kurath succeeded with nice shot and scored the first goal for his team. But the answer of Kitzbühel came quick, Patrick Huber increased the lead again. The KAC started with goaly Florian Vorauer in the second period, it was his first game in adult ice-hockey. The KAC started with a good opportunity, but it was again Kitzbühel who managed to score the first goal of the period. Delix Brunner had the quickest reaction after a saved shot and scored the rebound. Then the KAC found better rhythm and this time they also managed to capitalize on that. Kevin Schettina stealed the puck, when they were playing shorthanded and scored the 2:4. In the last period the KAC managed to narrow the gap again – with the 3:4 of Daniel Obersteiner they were back in the game. Former EBEL crack Christoph Echtler brought the decision three minutes before the end with the 5th goal for his team. The KAC took full risk in the last minutes, but they didn’t succeed. Mike Hummer scored the last goal of the night. The game ended 3:6.
HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice – EC Bregenzerwald 5:0
Jesenice and Bregenzerwald are old acquaintances, opponents from INL, so there are no big secrets between the teams. Before the match, Steelers were in the role of the favorites, and they also justified this. In the first third of the match they were markedly better opponent, and they confirmed that with three hits. First Tadej Čimžar came from the side, then Žan Jezovšek hit in quick counterattack. The advantage of more players took Marjan Manfreda. The second period was quite similar. Jesenice attacked and tried more than visitors, which missed their chances in this part of the match. Right at the beginning of the match Sašo Rajser took the advantage of more players on ice and score a goal. After the quick action Jure Sotlar gave the fifth goal for the Steelers. There were no goals in the last third of the match. Jesenice were more dangerous, better and faster. They also hit the bar, but closer to the goal the failed to come. Misa Konsta Matias Pietilä defended perfectly. Nevertheless, Steelers become the most efficient team of SKY AHL.
EK Zeller Eisbären – VEU Feldkirch 1:6
The EK Zeller Eisbären hosted the VEU Feldkirch fort he last game oft he regular season. The polar bears started well into the first period, it took only two minutes till Jan Kolar scored the first goal for the hosts. Zell tried to hold the pressure up, but they had to take th tie in the sevenths minute of Draschkowitz. The guests took control from this moment. A few moments before the end of the first period Birnstill took the lead for Feldkirch. In the second period both teams played a very quick and good game. Only Dieter Winzig managed to score in this period. The third period started with a standing of 1:3. Feldkirch shifted one gear up and didn’t let the polar bears a chance anymore. Feldkirch did well in shooting goals and added three more. Sticha, Fekete und Parks brought the result of 6:1.
