The Pre Season is on! 23 friendly games are on the schedule in the up-coming seven days, each day at least one. Champion HCB Südtirol Alperia, Dornbirn Bulldogs and Fehervar AV19 have already played their Pre Season opener. Another eight clubs will follow this week, while KHL Medvescak Zagreb is still practicing during this week...
 
Bozen, Salzburg and Vienna are testing for the Champions Hockey League
Champion HCB Südtirol Alperia lost their first friendly game against HK Vityaz Podolsk 2:3. The „Foxes“ will continue their Pre Season at the Dolomiten Cup in Egna this weekend. There, Anton Bernard and Company will open the tournament against DEL-club Augsburg Panthers on Friday. The Augsburg Panthers are coached by Austro-Canadian Mike Stewart. Besides, German DEL-club Düsseldorfer EG and Swiss NLA-club EV Zug are fighting for the title at this tournament.
 
EC Red Bull Salzburg starts their Pre Season at the Red Bulls Salute 2018 in Garmisch Partenkirchen this weekend. The Mozart Citizens will open the tournament vs. HC Sparta Praha on Friday. Sparta has earned four Czech Championship titles so far (2000, 2002, 2006, 2007). Besides, German Champion EHC Red Bull München and Swiss top-club SC Bern (NLA) will participate at the Red Bull Salute. Same as EC Red Bull Salzburg, EHC Red Bull München and Bern will try to get in right shape for the Champions Hockey League starting end of August.
 
Vienna Capitals open their Pre Season against MAC Budapest on Thursday. The Austrians will be coached by Canadian Dave Cameron for the first time in Hungary. MAC Budapest joins the Czech Extraliga in the upcoming season. Besides, the Caps will play another friendly road-game against HC Banska Bystrica on Monday. The Slovakian Champion is practicing for the Champions Hockey League same as the Capitals are doing it…
 
„Sharks party“ in Innsbruck
HC TWK Innsbruck „Die Haie“ open the season with the traditionell „Sharks party“ on Wednesday. Hockey is played in Innsbruck on Wednesday too. The Sharks will welcome KHL-club HC Vityaz Podolsk in their first friendly game 2018. The Russians have already beaten Champion HCB Südtirol Alperia 3:2 on Sunday. Besides, the North Tyroleans will be in a fight with DEL2-Champion Bietigheim Steelers in another test match at home on Sunday.
 
Head Coaches debut in Klagenfurt and Villach
After a team builing event in East Tyrol, EC-KAC will play their first test matches in Slovakia this week. The Red Jackets will face the Slovakian top-clubs HKM Zvolen (Thu) and HC Kosice (Sat) as well as Polands Champion and Champions Hockey League-participant GKY Tychy (Fr). Finnish Head Coach Petri Matikainen, who finished his player-career in Klagenfurt 20 years ago, will make his debut as Head Coach of EC-KAC. A new area will start in Villach on Friday as well: In the test against the DEL2-club EC Bad Nauheim, Gerhard Unterluggauer will be the EC Panaceo VSV Head Coach for the first time. Besides, several new players will make their debut for the Eagles. Bad Nauheim plays in the DEL/2 and has the former Dornbirn players Cody Sylvester, Dustin Sylvester, James Livingston under contract.
 
Znojmo opens the season with prestige-duels
HC Orli Znojmo was the first team starting the ice-practice this season as well. The Czechs will  play their first friendly game on Tuesday now. The „Red Eagles“ will travel to Brno, where they will face Czech Champion and Champions Hockey League participant HC Kometa Brno. Besides, the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga-club will be in a fight with HC Karlovy Vary, the club promoted to the Czech Extraliga this year, in another prestige-duel on Thursday.
 
After loosing 1:5 to HK Nitra (SVK), Fehervar AV19 will travel to Poland on Tuesday. There, the Hungarians will face Podhale Now Targ. Another road-trip will lead the „Devils“ to MsHK Zilina in Slovakia on Friday. Each opponent is playing in the top-League in his country in the upcoming season. Update: The game Podhale Now Targ vs. Fehervar AV19 has been cancelled due to injuries of Hungarian players. 
 
Dornbirn Bulldogs continue testing against Swiss clubs
Dornbirn Bulldogs opened their Pre Season with a 4:2-comeback-win against Ticino Rockets (NLB) on Sunday. The new arrivals Joel Broda (2), Radek Cip (1) and Brodie Dupont (1) convinced scoring all goals. The Vorarlberger will play another two friendly games against clubs from Switzerland this week. The Bulldogs will travel to Lugano (with Austrian defenseman Stefan Ulmer) on Friday and will welcome SC Rapperswil-Jona on Sunday. HC Lugano played in the NLA-finals 2018 and SC Rapperswill-Jona promoted to the NLA this year…
 
EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz is already back on the ice for a few days. Head Coach Troy Ward has welcomed eleven new players at the first ice-practice. This weekend,  the Upper Austrians will play their first two friendly games facing HC Ceske Budejovice (CZE/2). The first game is played in Czech Republic on Friday, the re-match follows in Linz on Sunday.
 
99ers will play three games in three days
The Pre-Season will start intense for the Moser Medical Graz99ers this week. The Styrians will play three friendly games within three days in Slovakia from Thursday until Saturday. The 99ers will play their first game against Slovakian Champion and Champions Hockey League participant HC 05 Banska Bystrica on Thursday. Besides, the team of Doug Mason will face the Slovakian top-club HC Kosice (Fr) and HKM Zvolen (Sa).
