The quarterfinals head into the second round

The second games in each of the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League quarterfinal pairings are scheduled for Sunday. The lower seeded teams will play at home for the first time. The EC-KAC and the spusu Vienna Capitals have the chance for the "break" after their home wins. HCB Südtirol Alperia and EC Red Bull Salzburg, on the other hand, want to win back the home right. All four games will be broadcast live.

  • The Viennese took the series lead with a clear 6:1 home win on Friday
  • In the third quarterfinal series against Fehérvár, the Viennese thus won the opening game for the first time
  • For the Hungarians, the negative trend of the Pick Round continued
  • Antti Karhula's team conceded 46 goals since the Intermediate Round (nine games) - it's an average of over five goals against per game
  • In their last visit to Székesfehérvár, the Viennese celebrated an 11:3 victory in mid-February
  • In the previous playoff duels with the Hungarians, the Caps won four out of five away games
  • Since the introduction of the live pick, the fourth-placed team after the pick round has never advanced to the semifinals

  • The KAC also walked off the ice victorious in their eleventh consecutive home derby on Friday
  • With 71 penalty minutes and conceding three goals shorthanded, Villach took away their chances of a win
  • The EC-KAC has won each of its last six playoff series in which they won the opening game
  • Of the last ten series in which the Eagles lost the first meeting, they have won only one: In the 2014 quarterfinals, an opening loss at the Vienna Capitals was followed by four straight wins
  • The KAC have won four of their five season meetings with their local rivals.
  • In the two clashes in Villach, each team won once each
  • Klagenfurt are the most successful away team so far this season - they have won 17 of 24 games away from home
  • In the four playoff series between the two Carinthian clubs since the league was newly founded, the KAC have taken a 1:0 lead three times.
    • In the 2000/01 final VSV equalised in the second game - the title was later won by KAC
    • In the 2001/02 semifinal, the Klagenfurt side took a 2:0 lead but were beaten 4:2 in the series.
    • In the 2003/04 final, the KAC also took a 2:0 lead and won the title.
  • The runner-up after the intermediate round has always qualified for the semifinals since the Live-Pick was introduced

  • With goalie Oskar Östlund's second shutout of the season, Dornbirn got the "break" right away in a 2:0 away win in Salzburg on Friday
  • For the Vorarlberg team it was the second postseason shutout in their league history (1st on 28.2.2016 in a 5-0 win over Znojmo)
  • For the third time in a row the playoff opener was lost for the Salzburg side
  • It was also the first win for the Bulldogs in the fifth season duel with Matt McIlvane's team
  • In the two regular season duels at the Messestadion Dornbirn, the Red Bulls won 3:2 (once after overtime)
  • In the 2014 quarterfinal series, the Bulldogs even took a 2:0 lead against Salzburg - but were defeated 4:2 in the end
  • At the DEC, Andrew Yogan returns to the lineup after his suspension
  • Jannik Fröwis will play his 100th game for the Bulldogs on Sunday
  • The third-placed team has already been eliminated in three of seven quarterfinal series

  • Bratislava celebrated a perfect playoff debut with a 2:1 win in Bolzano, with goalie Jared Coreau recording 37 saves
  • For the Capitals, it was their first win of the season over the South Tyroleans
  • For the first time since the 2014 quarterfinals (then Salzburg vs. Dornbirn 2:3), the top-seeded team started the playoffs with a home loss
  • In its seven playoff appearances so far, HCB started with a defeat no less than four times - three series were then also lost
  • Maxime Fortier, who gave the Capitals the lead yesterday, has gained at least one point in each of the last five games
  • In their only meeting at the Ondrej Nepela Arena so far, Bolzano won after shootout in mid-December
  • HCB has the best powerplay in the league, scoring 40 times (23.7%) in 169 occassions
