Three double-digit wins in the AWHL and EWHL on Sunday

There were some very one-sided results on Sunday in the win2day Austrian Women’s Hockey League and the European Women’s Hockey League. In the AWHL, the Sabres St. Pölten thrashed the Lakers Kärnten 12–1, while in the EWHL, the KSV Highlanders and MAC Budapest also recorded double-digit victories.

In the Sabres’ 12–1 home win, four players scored twice each. The hosts were already 4–0 ahead after 15 minutes and led 9–0 after 45 minutes before the Lakers scored their only goal of the game. For the Sabres, it was their third win in as many games this season, combining their AWHL and EWHL matches, putting the Lower Austrian side at the top of the standings. For the Lakers, it was their third defeat in their third game.

Highlanders and MAC Budapest record double-digit wins in the EWHL
In the European Women’s Hockey League, the KSV Highlanders and MAC Budapest also celebrated double-digit victories. The Highlanders defeated Budapest Jegkorong Akademia 10–1 to claim their third win in five games. They are now level on points with the Sabres in second place in the standings. The game was decided early, with the Styrian side already leading 5–0 after the opening period. Lena Dauböck was the standout performer, scoring a hat-trick and adding two assists.

MAC Budapest also scored ten goals against EVB Eagles South Tyrol, while keeping a clean sheet. For the South Tyrolean side, it was their second heavy defeat in as many games, while MAC Budapest made it two wins from two.
