League leaders EC-KAC secured their playoff spot as the first team on Sunday. Fifth-placed HC Falkensteiner Pustertal are also well on track to finish in the top six. At present, the South Tyroleans hold a 12-point lead over seventh-placed Fehérvár. KAC, meanwhile, are four points clear of their closest pursuers, Graz. The Klagenfurt side have won their last five games, and in their past 20 outings they have gone pointless only twice, winning 15 of those games. Pustertal are also in good form, riding a three-game winning streak in which they conceded just one goal per game. Prior to that, the Wolves suffered four consecutive defeats, including a 2–3 loss in Klagenfurt. KAC have also won the other two meetings between the teams this season (4–0 in Brunico, 3–2 OT in Klagenfurt). Wednesday’s game in Brunico is a rescheduled fixture from Round 47.

Salzburg visit Budapest
Defending champions EC Red Bull Salzburg face FTC-Telekom away from home in a rescheduled game from Round 46. The Hungarian side currently occupy the crucial tenth place in the standings and could gain some breathing room in the battle for the pre-playoffs with a win over third-placed Salzburg. Their lead over eleventh-placed Villach currently stands at just one point. However, a victory against the Red Bulls appears a tough task, as FTC have won only two of their last 11 games, while Salzburg have lost just one of their previous 15 encounters. The first meeting in Budapest this season did, however, see the Hungarians claim a surprise 2–1 win. Both games in Salzburg went to the Red Bulls (5–1, 7–2). With a regulation-time win, Salzburg could draw level with second-placed Graz in the standings.

Tyrolean derby between Innsbruck and Bolzano
The third game of the day features the Tyrolean derby between bottom-placed HC TIWAG Innsbruck and fourth-placed HCB Südtirol Alperia, a rescheduled matchup from Round 47. The teams meet for the third time this season, with Bolzano winning the first two encounters 3–1 and 4–1. Innsbruck have now gone seven games without a win against the South Tyroleans, with their last victory dating back to January 1, 2024. Last weekend, Innsbruck recorded a surprise 3–2 home win over Graz before falling 2–5 to Vienna. The victory against the 99ers was their only win in the last ten games. Bolzano, meanwhile, were beaten 4–7 in Salzburg despite a strong performance, having previously celebrated back-to-back wins.
