Italo-American Nate DiCasmirro and Slovenian Eric Pance were key-players at HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice past season. On Wednesday the two Forwards will return with HC Pustertal Wolves for the first time to the Steel City. Both clubs celebrated four wins in the last five rounds and belong to the best teams in Alps Hockey League: The Slovenes are ranked third with 48 points (16 wins) from 21 games and the „Wolves“ are ranked fifth with 42 points (13 wins) from 23 games. Both teams played strong defense in the first three month: The „Red Steelers“ received so far just 41 goals and Bruneck 49. Just Leader Rittner Buam (40) got less goals. The Slovenes won their last game at Ljubljana 3:0, while the Italians were defeated at Cortina 2:4. HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice won the first season-clash at Bruneck 4:0.

HK SZ Olimpija (7) and EC „Die Adler“ Stadtwerke Kitzbühel (12) will fight for their first points in December on Wednesday at Hala Tivoli in Ljubljana. Both teams lost so far all three games this month. The Slovenes had big problems to score lately. The Dragons made just three goals in the last three rounds. In the Slovenian Derby on Saturday Andrej Hebar and Co. even failed to score a goal from 40 shots and lost 0:3. The Tyroleans on the other side will try to end their bad road-run at Ljubljana on Wednesday: The Eagles are the only club, that lost so far all eleven road-games this season in the Alps Hockey League.
Wed, 20.12.2017: EC Bregenzerwald – WSV Sterzing Broncos Weihenstephan (Dornbirn, 19:30)

EC Bregenzerwald (9) and WSV Sterzing Broncos Weihenstephan (8) will fight for the eight place, which means the last Playoff ticket at the end of the regular season, on Wednesday at Dornbirn. Both teams collected so far 36 points (twelve wins). The West-Austrians had an up and down in the last five rounds, after a win always followed a defeat. Lately the „Wälder“ lost at home against FBI VEU Feldkirch. If this series continues, then ECB must get a win against their neighbour in the standing from Sterzing. The Broncos on the other side had problems so far in December. The Italians lost all four games this months and scored just five goals. The first clash this season was won by ECB at Sterzing 3:2.

After their first season-win EC-KAC awaits EK Zeller Eisbären on Wednesday. Another bad run will end in this clash: The Red Jackets lost so far all eleven home-games this season, while the Pinzgauer were defeated in their last seven road-games, in which they made just eight goals. But both clubs collected some confidence lately: While the Carinthians got their first season-win at Neumarkt, the Pinzgauer won their last two games at home and are back in the race for the Top 8. The Polar Bears also travel with good memories to Klagenfurt: EK Zeller Eisbären won so far all three games at Klagenfurt and was successful in the first season-clash at home 4:3.

The Rittner Buam are not to stop right now! The Champion won their last five games. On Wednesday the Leader welcomes FBI VEU Feldkirch (4) in the top-clash and has one big aim: The Italians could be the first club to score their 100th goal of the season. So far the best offense was successful 96 times from 23 games 2017/18. Besides the Leader has the best defense, received so far just 40 goals. But take attention: Also the FBI VEU Feldkirch had a good run lately: The Austrians collected points from their last five games (four wins). In the last 15 rounds this two clubs even were most successful: Riitten got in this period 36 points (13 wins) and the VEU 33 points (elf wins) from 15 games. One year ago the West-Austrains won at Ritten 3:1, since that day the Leader had the upper hand three times in a row.

With HC Neumarkt Riwega (15) and the Red Bull Hockey Juniors (14) two neighbours in the standing will face on Wednesday at Neumarkt. The Italians are on place 15 with 21 points (eight wins) from 24 games, while the Mozart Citizens are ranked on place 14 with 22 points (eight wins) from 15 games. The Austrians will take the bus for the first time since October 28th 2017 on Wednesday. On this day the Red Bulls won at Fassa 1:0. Besides it will be the first game for the Austrians in December. Their last game in Alps Hockey League the Mozart Citizens lost end of November vs. FBI VEU Feldkirch at home 1:2. HC Neumarkt Riwega on the other side won on Saturday at Gherdeina 3:1. Before the Italians stayed without points at home twice. With three points the wild-geese would overtake Salzburg in the ranking. The first season-clash was won by the Red Bull Hockey Juniors at home with 5:4 after Soot Out.

Both - HC Gherdeina valgardena.it and EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau – played their last game against HC Neumarkt Riwega. While the Italians lost 1:3, the „Lions“ won 4:2. For the Italians it meaned the first defeat after four wins. The Austrians on the other side returned on the winning-street after three defeats. On the road the Lions are still without a win in December, the Austrians lost both road-games this month. But take attention: EHC won the first season-clash at home 4:0.

Sportivi Ghiaccio Cortina Hafro (6) and Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey 1935 (2) played good games in December so far, both clubs won all the games this month. The „Yellow-Reds“ also were in Fire, they scored 19 goals from four games. Cortina on the other side played strong defense and got just three goals in three games. Vice-Champion Asiago won the last two meetings with their Italian opponent with one goal difference.

With the Austrian clash, FBI VEU Feldkirch vs. EC-KAC II, starts on Friday round 26. The Vorarlberger played strong at home lately, they won the last five home-games. The Carinthians on the other side showed lately at Neumarkt, that they can win on the road. The VEU won so far all five meetings, inter alia the first season-clash 5:0.
One Suspension
Nick Bruneteau of HC Pustertal Wolves got suspended by DOPS for three games, because of Spearing.
