Three wins and four preseason losses for ICE teams | Bolzano signs experienced goaltender

A total of seven teams of the win2day ICE Hockey League were in preseason action on Thursday. The EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV and the Moser Medical Graz99ers lost their openers. In addition, the spusu Vienna Capitals and the HK SZ Olimpija lost again. The Steinbach Black Wings Linz celebrated their first win in the second game. Also successful were runner-up HCB Südtirol Alperia and Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey, who started the preseason with victories against Alps Hockey League representatives.

Bolzano also presented its last new signing for the upcoming season in the form of goalkeeper Niklas Svedberg. The 33-year-old Swede has already played in the NHL and KHL, among others, in addition to the SHL. Svedberg is the first Swede in 90 years who will guard the goal of Bolzano.

Defeats for Vienna, Villach, Graz and Ljubljana
The spusu Vienna Capitals lost in the second test match as well. At the Czech vice-champion Mountfield HK, the Austrian capitals conceded a 1:4 defeat. After a goalless first period, Mountfield scored three times in the middle period. In the final 20 minutes, both teams scored once each. On the Capitals' side, Christof Kromp provided the only goal in the 46th minute. In addition to the Vienna team, HK SZ Olimpija also suffered its second defeat. The Slovenians also lost 1:4 to HKM Zvolen from Slovakia.

The EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV and the Moser Medical Graz99ers also suffered opening losses in the preseason. Villach lost to Yale Athletic, a university team from the USA, with 3:6. The Moser Medical Graz99ers were defeated 0:3 by the Stavanger Oilers from Norway.

Black Wings with first preseason win
After the 1:3 defeat at the HC Slovan Bratislava in the opening test game, the Steinbach Black Wings won 4:2 against HC Nove Zamky from Slovakia in their first home game of the new season in front of more than 1,600 spectators. Nico Feldner and Christoph Tialler scored their first goals in Linz and ensured a deserved success in the second test match. Emilio Romig and Shawn St-Amant provided the remaining goals for the Upper Austrians, who were already leading 4:0 in the meantime.

Bolzano and Asiago defeat Alps Hockey League teams
Vice-champion HCB Südtirol Alperia and Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey started the preseason with clear victories. Both teams had to face Italian Alps Hockey League teams. Bolzano had no problems with the SHC Fassa Falcons and won clearly with 9:0. Asiago kept the upper hand against the Hockey Unterland Cavaliers with 4:0.

Goalkeeper Niklas Svedberg completes Bolzano squad
Even before the preseason opener against Fassa, runner-up HCB Südtirol Alperia announced the latest new signing for the upcoming season with 33-year-old Niklas Svedberg. The goalie has already played in the best leagues in the world, such as the NHL, the AHL, the KHL to the Swedish SHL and the German DEL.

"For me it's a huge opportunity to play for a club that has big goals. It's going to be an intense and long season as we are in championship and Champions Hockey League action. All this motivates me a lot and I'm looking forward to being there, meeting the guys and starting training," said the new signing.
