Bolzano stays on top
HCB Südtirol Alperia defended their spot at the top of the standings on Saturday night. In a showdown with the Moser Medical Graz99ers, the Foxes battled their way to a 3-2 victory – their fifth win in a row. The Styrians didn’t make it easy for the league leaders, who had dropped a point in each of their last two games. Marcus Vela gave the 99ers an early lead, but a quick double strike from the Foxes swung the momentum in favor of the home team. After the visitors equalized in the second period, Anthony Salinitri got Bolzano back on track. The Foxes’ defense stood firm against the Grazers’ final push, securing the 3-2 win. This keeps the 99ers at a distance in the standings and fends off Fehérvár’s challenge for the top spot, as the Hungarian side also claimed a win in their parallel fixture.

Fehérvár crushes Innsbruck
Less than 24 hours after HC TIWAG Innsbruck’s 0-10 drubbing at the hands of the spusu Vienna Capitals – the Sharks’ heaviest defeat in league history – the Tyroleans slid straight into their next disaster. Visiting the league’s second-placed team, Hydro Fehérvár AV19, Innsbruck suffered a 1-7 thrashing. Fehérvár dominated the game from the first puck drop and registered their biggest win of the season. Highlight of the night: Trevor Cheek and Anže Kuralt both netted hat tricks for the home side.

VSV edges Pioneers in Feldkirch
EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV celebrated a 3-2 win on the road against the league’s bottom club, Pioneers Vorarlberg, on Saturday evening. The team from Feldkirch got off to the better start, with Oskar Maier opening the scoring in the 12th minute. But in the second period, the Villach Eagles took control and leveled the game through Max Rebernig. Early in the final frame, VSV showed their killer instinct, scoring twice to take a 3-1 lead. The Pioneers pulled one back on the powerplay but couldn’t force overtime. With this win, the Eagles climbed back into contention for a top-six spot.
