With six wins in a row, EK Die Zeller Eisbären is currently the “hottest” team in the league. In second place in the table, the Salzburg team is just two points behind leader Kitzbühel. The Tyroleans were beaten 2:5 at home by Jesenice last Saturday. It was their first defeat after four wins in a row and only their second loss of the season. It was also the first game this season in which the KEC conceded five goals in one game. The derby between the “Eagles” and the “Polar Bears” already took place this season on September 28. Back then, Kitzbühel won 5:2 at home.

In the second top game of the day, third-placed SIJ Acroni Jesenice welcome fifth-placed Rittner Buam SkyAlps. Both teams are facing each other for the first time in the current AHL season. However, they have already met in the Continental Cup, which Ritten won 5:3. Both teams are in very good form in the league, with four wins from their last five games. With just 18 goals conceded so far, Jesenice have the second-best defense in the league, while Ritten have already conceded 30.

Only league newcomer KHL Sisak have an even better defense so far. The Croatians have conceded 17 goals in seven games. Last week, they celebrated two clear victories against Bregenzerwald (6:0) and Merano (4:2). Overall, the fourth-placed team in the table has only been beaten twice after overtime. On Tuesday, Sisak will host the Red Bull Hockey Juniors. Salzburg are currently in tenth place in the table and are currently three points behind Sisak, although they have already played six more games. The Juniors have recently suffered four defeats in a row.

Last year's finalist S.G. Cortina Hafro are still searching for their form. On Tuesday, the team in eleventh place in the table will play at the eighth-placed Hockey Unterland Cavaliers. However, the two teams are separated by just one point. On Saturday, the Cavaliers won 4:1 in Sterzing. It was only their second win after regulation. Cortina was beaten 4:5/OT by Ritten in the final rematch on Sunday. It was the Italians' seventh defeat in their tenth game. In the first duel of the season between Unterland and Cortina, the home side from Neumarkt narrowly prevailed 5:4/OT. Daniels Murnieks scored the game-winner in overtime in favor of the Cavaliers.

Tuesday also sees the crisis duel between bottom of the table EC Bregenzerwald and twelfth-placed Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan. Bregenzerwald have only won one game so far this season, compared to three for Sterzing. The ECB have made it to overtime twice in front of their home crowd this season, but have lost both times, while the Broncos have won two of their three games away from home.
