HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice - EC-KAC Future Team
HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice had to face only newcomer Hockey Unterland Cavaliers so far this season. On Thursday, the Slovenians celebrated a 3:1 victory over the EC-KAC Future Team. However, the Austrians got the better start, taking the lead in the first period through Luc Slivnik. Jesenice put a lot of pressure in the second and third periods and turned the match around with a brace from Zan Jezovsek.
Steinbach Steel Wings Linz - S.G. Cortina Hafro
The S.G. Cortina Hafro had to admit defeat only in the first game so far this season. Since then, the northern Italians recorded five wins in a row. In four of those victories, however, only one goal made the difference. This was also the case in their last success to date on Thursday as guests of the Steinbach Steel Wings Linz. Despite a clear chance advantage in the first two periods, the first and only goal could only be scored in the 34th minute.
EHC Lustenau - EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel
In the only duel between two teams from Austria, EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel prevailed against EHC Lustenau after shootout. While Kitzbühel thus recorded its third win in the sixth game, last year's semifinalist from Vorarlberg suffered its fourth defeat in the fifth game. Lustenau was already well on its way to its second win in just over 30 minutes and led 4:2. Joonas Niemelä brought the game to overtime in the final period with his second goal of the evening. It was also Niemelä who provided the decision in the shootout.
Hockey Unterland Cavaliers - Red Bull Hockey Juniors
Even after six games, the league newcomer Hockey Unterland Cavaliers is the only undefeated team. Red Bull Hockey Juniors suffered another defeat after three wins in a row. This was the third away game in a row for Red Bull Juniors. After a scoreless first period, the Cavaliers opened the scoring, but Salzburg tied the game a little later when they were shorthanded. But still in the second period the newcomer added three more goals and turned the game around.
HC Merano/o Pircher - HC Gherdeina valgardena.it
While HC Gherdeina could already record its third win in a row, the current losing streak of HC Meran/o Pircher was prolonged, as they were defeated for the sixth time in a row. However, Meran/o got off to the better start and went into the first break with a 1:0 lead. Outnumbered, the guests managed to equalize in the middle third, before two late goals in the final period ensured the decision. Also the AHL MVP of the season 2020/21 entered again in the scorers list. Brad McGowan now has six goals this season.
SHC Fassa Falcons - Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan
Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan managed to leave its rival behind in the standings in the direct encounter with SHC Fassa Falcons. After two defeats in a row, the Broncos managed to win again. Already in the first period Sterzing took the lead with three goals. The Broncos added another goal in the second period before Fassa could show a reaction. Until the 43rd minute, the home side was able to score twice. Sterzing finally prevailed 5:2.
