Tournament victories for Unterland and Sterzing

Last weekend, numerous Alps Hockey League teams were in preseason action. Among others, the Hockey Unterland Cavaliers secured victory in their home tournament, the Unterland Cup, and the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan prevailed in a tournament in Peiting. There are numerous preseason games on the schedule again this week – a total of five from Tuesday to Thursday. Three of these are between Alps Hockey League and win2day ICE Hockey League teams.

In the Unterland Cup, the home team narrowly defeated league newcomers HC Asiago 2-1 in the final. The winning goal was scored in the last minute of the game by Marek Potsinok. Previously, the Cavaliers had beaten HC Eppan Pirates 3-0. Asiago also prevailed against Eppan in the first game of the tournament, but only narrowly with a score of 4-3. For HC Asiago, these were the first two test games in anticipation of their Alps Hockey League adventure.

The tournament in Peiting also progressed to an all-league final, with the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan prevailing 4-1 against HC Meran/o Pircher. In the semifinals, both AHL teams had celebrated narrow victories: the Broncos won 2-1 against SC Riessersee, while Meran prevailed 3-2 against hosts Peiting after a penalty shootout.

Bregenzerwald remains unbeaten
EC Bregenzerwald also continued its impressive preseason over the weekend. The Vorarlberg team celebrated a 4-2 victory at EV Füssen – their fifth win in five test matches. Defending champions EK Die Zeller Eisbären, on the other hand, suffered a clear 1-6 defeat at Olimpija Ljubljana, although the game had to be abandoned after around 30 minutes due to a defective boards. The Red Bull Hockey Juniors faced the Stuttgart Rebels twice. While they won the first game 5-4, they were defeated 2-3 in the second game. Runner-up HDD Jesenice got off to a successful start to the preseason: The Slovenians won a high-scoring duel with league rivals KHL Sisak 8-4.

Five games in the next three days
There are numerous test games on the schedule again this week – a total of five from Tuesday to Thursday. Three of these will progress as Alps Hockey League vs. win2day ICE Hockey League matches.

On Tuesday, defending champions EK Die Zeller Eisbären will host HC TIWAG Innsbruck, while KHL Sisak will be the guests of EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV. On Wednesday, HC Meran/o Pircher will host HCB Südtirol Alperia. In the remaining games, EC Bregenzerwald will face EHC Winterthur on Tuesday, and on Thursday, an internal league between Hockey Unterland Cavaliers and HC Gherdeina valgardena.it will take place.
