Daniel Welser went through the Klagenfurt ice hockey school. In the first season after the league was newly-founded (2000/01), he played 48 games and won the title with the KAC at the age of 18. Three years later, he lifted the championship trophy again with the "Red Jackets", followed by a move abroad to Skellefteå AIK in the summer of 2005.

After two seasons in Sweden, Welser returned to Austria and joined EC Red Bull Salzburg. It remained his last change of club, as he spent the next eleven years in Salzburg. Welser won the league title five more times with the Red Bulls and collected numerous other trophies. His career came to an end after the 2017/18 season. Due to his great achievements, he was the first Salzburg player to have his shirt number 20 retired. "I grew up in Klagenfurt and owe a lot to the club. Although I've lived in Salzburg for a long time, I still have many friends in Klagenfurt. I was able to celebrate great successes with both teams, which I associate with wonderful memories," says Welser, who has been on the ice for the Red Bulls in each of the two finals series between the KAC and Salzburg: "These series were heated, the games were very exciting".

As a PULS 24 pundit, Daniel Welser is still close to the action in the win2day ICE Hockey League and is looking ahead to the upcoming final series. "It's difficult to make a prediction. I think a lot will depend on the goalkeepers - Dahm and Tolvanen are the two best goalies in the league. It will be interesting to see if Salzburg's offence can be more productive than it has been recently. In terms of skating, Klagenfurt has the advantage, the Red Bulls looked tired in their last game. But a place in the final can definitely release some energy. It will certainly be an exciting series.

The first game of the "best-of-seven" final series between EC-KAC and EC Red Bull Salzburg will be broadcast on PULS 24 and Joyn on Friday at 7.05 pm
