Stefan Geier (#19) of EC-KAC, time approximately 05:06 was involved in an incident deemed as Kneeing (IIHF Rule 152). The video evidence was sent to the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga Committee (PSC), which determined the incident to be worthy of supplementary discipline - Category 1 - 'Careless'.

According to the Arbitratorand having considered the video evidence and ruling of the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga PSC, StefanGeier (#19) of EC-KAC, will receive supplementary discipline under rule 152 – Kneeing.

Sunday afternoonin Bozen, an incident occurred involving EC-KAC forward #19 StefanGeier on HCB Südtirol Alperia #92 Colton Hargrove, deemed as kneeing.

As the video shows, play is in the Bolzano D'Zone with Bolzano in possession of the puck. With a chip off the boards, Colton Hargrove gained possession of the puck. StefanGeier recognizing Hargrove gained puck possession, immediately skated at Hargrove to make a defensive play which involved the use of the knee to make contact.
This is kneeing.
Geier, altered his skating lane slightly and extended his left knee out. The left knee extension out, was the main contact point, which was knee to knee on Hargrove. It was taken into consideration, Geier had a regard for the puck and attemptedto make a body check. However, with the angle and approach of Geier and the fact Hargrove altered his skating path, there was no body to body contact and instead knee to knee contact. Hargrove change in skating lanes may have played a part in the knee contact, but was not the cause or reason. Geier knee extended out was the cause.
Although there was no apparent injury, the potentialof injury on knee to knee contact is high. Geier must refrain from the extension of his knee when making contact, through maintaining tucked body parts. It is also relevant and important to note, this is the second occurrence involving Geier for kneeing in regards to supplementary discipline.

Effective immediately, Stefan Geier (#19) of EC-KAC is suspended for 2 games and fined 400.00 Euros. 1 game for the kneeing on 08.12.2019and 1 game due to a repeat offender. For a total or 2 games.
