Two games suspension for Cameron Gaunce

Cameron Gaunce (#43) of Hydro Fehervar AV19, time 48:01 was involved in an incident deemed as Interference (IIHF Rule 56). The video evidence was sent to the win2day ICE Hockey League PSC, which determined the incident to be worthy of supplementary discipline - Category 2 - 'Reckless'.

Saturday night in Bozen, Fehervar D'man #43 Cameron Gaunce was penalized with a 5-minute and game misconduct penalty for an incident deemed as Interference on Bozen forward #94 Daniel Frank, which caused an apparent injury.

As the video shows, Frank takes a pass, where he deflects it back, with Gaunce pursing from the side. As Gaunce engages Frank, Frank alters his skating pattern up the ice simultaneously with the moment Gaunce engages Frank to make a hit. The hit is considered shoulder to shoulder and no head contact which is the legal side. The illegal side is the hit is considered late and unsuspecting.

This is Interference.

It is important to note, Frank is eligible to be hit on this play, but on time with puck possession. Instead, Gaunce finishes this check well outside the allowable window to make contact. The result of this play is a body check to a vulnerable payer, who is not eligible to be hit at the time of contact, which causes an injury. Considering Gaunce had time to minimize or avoid and the hit is late and unsuspecting, is the reason for supplementary discipline.

The ICE Hockey League Department of Player Safety has suspended Cameron Gaunce (#43) for 2 games and fined 500.00 euros.
