Michele Stevan of Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey got suspended for two games because of a contact with an opponent deemed as Elbowing.

Michele Stevan (#16) of Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey, time 30:16, made contact with an opponent deemed as a Elbowing, IIHF Rule 139. The video evidence was sent to the AHL Player Safety Committee (PSC), which determined the incident to be worthy of supplementary discipline - Category 2 – ‘Reckless’.
 
According to the Arbitrator and having considered the video evidence and ruling of the AHL PSC, player Michele Stevan (#16) of Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey, will receive supplementary discipline under rule 139 – Elbowing.
 
On January 5th, in Gherdeina, (#16) Michele Stevan of Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey delivered a body check deemed illegal and dangerous. As the video shows, the opposing player retrieves the puck and turns up ice. With the opposing player in possession of the puck and in a puck possession battle with a different Asiago player, Michele Stevan picked up speed to defend through a body check. 
 
The body check was sent to the AHL PSC and determined supplementary discipline is required for contact to the head. The check is deemed illegal. Michele Stevan released his bottom hand (left arm) from his stick before contact and transferred his weight to his right leg for the purpose of moving his body to his left. In his body movement and through the free arm, Michele Stevan elevated up and in with his body and extended his left elbow to the head area of the opposing player. 
 
The check is deemed head contact and recklessly endangering with no regard for the puck. The hit was not in an effort to separate the puck from the puck carrier, but rather separate the puck carrier from the game.
 
Effective immediately, Michele Stevan (#16) suspended for 2 games.
