Thomas Raffl and Lucas Thaler were the two scorers for EC Red Bull Salzburg in the second quarter-final duel against Steinbach Black Wings Linz. There were just seven seconds between the two goals: After Raffl's second playoff goal in 2024, Ali Wukovits was on the face-off. The Viennese won the face-off, brought the disk into the attacking third himself via the left and then onto the goal. Tirronen had no control over the puck - and Lucas Thaler flicked the rebound into the opposing goal with a backhand.

Playoff record set
With just those seven seconds between the two goals, Salzburg managed to set the previous playoff record of Hydro Fehérvár AV19. The Hungarians also needed just seven seconds for two goals on March 9, 2022, with Colin Jacobs and Kristof Nemeth scoring against Pustertal. In the same postseason - which they finished as runners-up - the Magyars also scored twice within eight seconds (4:0 @VSV | 28.03.2022). Linz also achieved the same feat in the 2014 playoffs, when Lebler and Oberkofler scored in a 6:5 win after extra time against Znojmo. The fifth-fastest double in a postseason was scored by the spusu Vienna Capitals in 2013 with 10 seconds.

Linz holds all-time record
The all-time record is held by Steinbach Black Wings Linz: On December 8, 2017, the Upper Austrians won 4:2 at EC-KAC, taking a 3:0 lead after just 199 seconds. There were only exactly five seconds between the second (Schofield) and third (Lebler) goal of the evening. There have been five times in league history when there were six seconds between two goals.

Lucas "Lucky Luke" Thaler on record hunt
Lucas Thaler is on a record-breaking run this season. The 22-year-old Austrian already holds the record for the fastest brace by a crack this season. In the 4:1 regular season victory over EC idM Wärmepumpen VSV, "Lucky Luke" scored two goals within 33 seconds - there has not been a faster brace this season.
