Two overtimes and Ritten advancing to semis

On Thursday both quarterfinal games of Alps Hockey League went into overtime. HC Pustertal came back late from a two-goal deficit to decide the game at FBI VEU Feldkirch to their favour after 84 minutes, 5:4. Rittner Buam held the upper hand against Red Bull Hockey Juniors 4:3 to advance to semis.

FBI VEU Feldkirch (4) vs. HC Pustertal Wölfe (5) 4:5 OT (1:1; 1:1; 2:2; 0:0; 0:1)
Dylan Stanley was absent for the home team due to injury while Benjamin Kyllonen was on Felkirch's roster. Nick Bruneteau was absent due to injury while Alexander Kinkelin was always the goalkeeper. The Feldkirch started well as they played definitely into the attack zone. Diethard Winzing scored the first goal with a shot under the intersection after 3 minutes. The home team accelerated and tried to double but the defense of the yellowblack resisted. Then after 14 'minutes there was a draw of the Wolves thanks to the goal of Jean-Francois Jacques with a lucky rebound. In the second half the Felkirch started in powerplay but didn’t advance in the result. When the two team return to play in full strength, the Wolves found the advantage with Sean Ringrose (23.). The game was fought but correct. The visitors sought the advantage but don’t finalize. The game was very fast and with few interruptions. Then the second part of the period was a bit 'more nervous. When missing 76 seconds at the end of the second period, Armin Hofer took two minutes and Feldkirch scored with a diagonal one timer from the distance of Marcel Witting (2: 2). In the third time the teams played a lot in defense and carefully. Then Daniel Winzig achieved the new Austrian advantage with a touch in the front of the net with the defense of Bruck a little surprised. Then the Feldkirch advanced again with Stefan Wiedmaier who finalized a quick action with a backhand shot that surprises Alexander Kinkelin (53.). When seven minutes left at the end of the third time the Fedlkirch seemed to have the game in his hand. But history of the series has been repeated as in game 3. The Val Pusteral left Kinkelin in the bench in advance as they began a long attack. First was Raphael Andergassen to shorten the distances when missing 125 seconds at the end of the third time and then Bruneck believed it and found an incredible draw with Sean Ringorose when there were 17 seconds left. Val Pusteria repeated the task of Game 3 when they scored three goals with the extra attacker ... 5 goals with the extra attacker in two away games ... a real record. The match went to the overtime on the result of 4: 4. The teams are very careful and do not let themselves be surprised. Fatigue began to surface. Andergassen and Jacques were dangerous at first, while Drashowitz hit a post. The first overtime ended without goal. During the 2th overtime, the protagonist was still Sean Ringrose who deflected a puck directed towards to the net  of Alex Caffi with a lot luck. For Sean Ringrose was the third goal of the evening. After 84 minutes Pustetal won by 5:4 as they took again the lead in the series for 3:2. Saturday will be played Game 6 in Bruneck: the Wolves have the first match-point in their favor.

On the 15th minute Tobias Eder had to sit down for two minutes in the penalty bench and the Renon took the lead in powerplay with Oscar Ahlström for his 21st goal of the season, the second of these playoffs. The Salzburg answered present and immediately created dangers at the net of Patrick Killeen but could not find the goal of draw. In the second period the Austrians came out more convinced by the dressing rooms and at 22 'draw: Florian Baltram overcame Killeen for 1-1. The joy of the "Bulls" lasted only 140 seconds, however, because the defender Brad Cole brought the Ritten ahead with a pass by Simon Konster. At the 27th the "Buam" made the third goal with Alex Frei closing the central fraction on the advantage of 3-1. In the third period Samuel Antti Soramies reopened the match shortening to 44 '. Salzburg really believed and dominated the game, finding again the way of the net that is worth the draw with captain Victor Östling. On 3-3 the game lived on a substantial balance until the whistle of the third siren that postpones any decision to the extra time. Here the Klobstein team it took 32 seconds to close the match and the series. It was still Oscar Ahlström who scored the decisive net for Ritten for the final of 4: 3 at the overtime. The Rittner Buam won the series for 4:1 as they went into the semi-finals.
