Two teams were able to enjoy victories without conceding a goal in Thursday's games in the Alps Hockey League: Holsa Paavo secured the eighth win of the season for HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana with his shutout at the 4-0 win in Ritten, and the Red Bull Hockey Juniors and Goalie Alois Schultes once again showed a 6-0 back-to-back win against Linz. Thanks to two powerplay goals, EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel scored a 4:2 victory at EC-KAC II. In the first leg of the last remaining "Return-to-Play" duel, S.G. Cortina Hafro turned a three-goal deficit.
Juniors win “back-to-back”
The Red Bull Hockey Juniors didn't give the Steel Wings Linz "back-to-back" a chance. After the 6:0 victory in their home game on Tuesday, the Salzburg side followed up with a 6:0 away game, their fourth win in a row, and remain undefeated against the Linz team. Josef Eham's fourth goal of the season put the guests ahead after only 91 seconds, Maximilan Rebernig doubled only 47 seconds later. From then on, Salzburg had their opponent under control and took a commanding victory. In the end, six different players scored. Linz goalkeeper Luca Egger prevented a higher defeat of the home team with 47 saves. Salzburg-Goalie Alois Schultes had only seven shots to save for a shutout.
First Kitzbühel win after regulation in stage two
The EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel took its first victory after regulation in the fourth game of the "Home and Away" round. The Tyroleans celebrated an unchallenged 4:2 victory at EC-KAC II. HC TIWAG Innsbruck-loan Luca Muigg was involved in the first two goals of the "Adler". Fabian Ranftl scored the goal for the decisive 3-0 in the 34th minute. For the only 17-year-old it was the first multiple point game in his young AHL career. Kitzbühel celebrated his tenth victory in Klagenfurt over “Rotjacken” Farm Team, which lost for the fifth time in a row.
Ljubljana celebrates eight straight win
After a Covid 19-related break of 33 days, the Rittner Buam started with a 0:4 defeat against HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana. The reigning AHL champion is thus still unbeaten this season, remained without conceding a goal for the second time. The Finnish goalie Holsa Paavo celebrated his first shutout in the Alps Hockey League. The guests from Slovenia benefited from a lightning start against the young Rittner Buam, when Gal Koren scored after 34 seconds. Until the 24th minute the "Dragons" increased the score to 3:0 and decided the game early.
Cortina comes back after three-goal deficit
The last remaining duel of the return 2-play phase offered a turnaround victory for S.G. Cortina Hafro in the first leg. The home team was trailing Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey 1:4 after 26 minutes before a brilliant comeback started. In the middle of the third period the Machaka team equalized, in the 46th minute Luca Barnabo took the lead, which Luca Zanatta (54th) doubled decisively in the powerplay. Marek Vankus' follow-up goal 92 seconds left to make it 5-6 gives the former champion hope for the return leg. Remy Giftopoulos scored a brace for Cortina, while Asiago's Steve McParland scored to defend his scoring streak of nine games.
