With Shawn St-Amant, the Steinbach Black Wings Linz have signed their third import player for the upcoming season. In his native Canada, the 25-year-old had a highly successful start to his first two years as a professional and became a two-time champion. After jumping straight from college to the American Hockey League and making 28 appearances for the San Antonio Rampage, the Canadian secured the Kelly Cup in the East Coast Hockey League with the Colorado Eagles in the 2016-17 season. With 15 points in 18 playoff games, the winger played a major role in winning the championship.

After successfully defending the title the following season and another two years of appearances in both the ECHL and AHL, St-Amant proved his scoring prowess for the first time in Europe in 2020. In 57 games for Romanian club Gyergyói HK, he managed 48 points on 32 goals scored. In the past season, the scorer bounced back and forth between the AHL and ECHL. In the process, he scored a total of 22 goals and 14 assists for Laval Rocket and Trois-Rivières Lions.
