Unbeaten Salzburg hosts EC-KAC

On Sunday, league’s 139th duel between unbeaten leader EC Red Bull Salzburg and third-ranked EC-KAC opens 6th round in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League. Between these two placed Moser Medical Graz99ers travel to EC Grand Immo VSV to destroy their five-game losing streak against the “eagles”, while the Black Wings 1992 try to reenter winning ways at Hydro Fehérvár AV19. The spusu Vienna Capitals close their road-trip at HC TIWAG Innsbruck – Die Haie.

  • The two teams are equal on points at the top of the table. Due to the better goal difference, EC Red Bull Salzburg is in first place, EC-KAC is third. Salzburg played two games less than Klagenfurt.
  • RBS is still unbeaten in the current season, the KAC has not yet lost on the road this season.
  • With 5.67 goals per game, RBS is league’s best offensive team and has the best scoring efficiency (15.89%) available too. On the other hand, both teams have a similar goal against average (1.6 RBS and 1.8 KAC).
  • Salzburg's recently drafted into the NHL by the Buffalo Sabres Munich loan John Peterka still has a goal scoring streak available after three games.

  • The spusu Vienna Capitals conclude their first road trip of the season with a game at HC TIWAG Innsbruck Die Haie. While VIC is playing the evening before in Bolzano, the HCI has an extra day to regenerate.
  • After the two victories on the opening weekend, the HCI only took one point (SO defeat to BRC) out of the past three games, but remains fifth, staying in the upper half of the table. VIC, which has played two games less, has gained at least one point in every game of the season so far - two wins were followed by an SO defeat to AVS.
  • At HCI, the special teams have to improve: On PP, the "sharks" scored only three out of 27, shorthanded they had to take nine goals against (66.7%). Vienna's box-play has so far been much better (82.3%).
  • Lukas Bär and Kevin Tansey are still missing at HCI.
  • The two teams meet each other for the 102nd time. Vienna has won 68 of them - and won the last six games too.
