Victories for Almaty and Budapest

Two games were scheduled in the EWHL on Saturday. Aisulu Almaty won clearly with 8:0 against the DEC Salzburg Eagles. MAC Budapest celebrated a narrow 1:0 away win at Tauron Metropolia Silesia.

For Almaty, the clear 8:0 victory against Salzburg was their first win of the season in their fifth game. Salzburg, on the other hand, played their first match. The team from Kazakhstan led 2:0 after the first period and added four goals in the second. Two more goals followed in the final period. Player of the match was Lauren Nicholson with four goals and one assist. Goalkeeper Rachel Seeley saved all 16 shots on goal. For Almaty it was the first of two games this weekend. Tomorrow, Sunday at 14:30, they will face the KSV Highlanders.

The second game of the day was much more even. In the end, Budapest narrowly won 1:0 in Katowice. It was also the first game of the season for the Hungarians. Silesia, on the other hand, played their third game of the season and conceded their third defeat. The only goal of the match was scored by Bieke van Nes in the 25th minute. MAC goalie Bianca Bogati promptly started the season with a shutout (22 saves). SIL goalkeeper Martyna Sass was also completely convincing with 39 saves. The two teams will face each other again tomorrow Sunday at 13:00.
