The spusu Vienna Capitals won 3-2 against the Dornbirn Bulldogs to open the 27th round of the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League. With this, the team of Head Coach Dave Barr, who this time again relied on Bernhard Starkbaum in goal, returned to winning ways only 19 hours after the defeat in Bolzano (4:7). Practically with the first attack, the "Caps" took the lead in Vorarlberg, as Patrick Antal (4.) successfully scored from the left face-off circle. The home team nevertheless looked dynamic and rewarded itself in the 17th minute when Stefan Häussle successfully completed a 2-on-1. James Sheppard sent the Viennese into the first intermission with an advantage, scoring eleven seconds left after a one-two with Meyer.

In the second period, the pace of the game decreased. Dornbirn initially survived three box-plays, but then had to accept the third goal in the 36th minute by Niki Hartl, who scored his 9th goal of the season on a rebound. In the final period, the visitors continued to have the better chances, but it was the Bulldogs which scored the goal: Häussle (58t.) scored a brace before Vienna managed to hold on to the one-goal lead in the final period.

Villach cheers win after shootout

EC GRAND Immo VSV cleared its defeat from Friday – the "Adler" lost 0:4 at home to EC-KAC in the Kärntner Derby – and 24 hours later celebrated a 3:2 home win after shootout against HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie. Villach took revenge for the defeat in the first duel of the season. The match started fast-paced, with both teams hitting the pipes early. The guests then took the lead in the 15th minute through Zach Magwood's 10th goal of the season, Kevin Moderer before that with the turnover. But in the last 150 seconds of the first Villach turned the score: first Anton Karlsson (18.) draws level on powerplay and then Stefan Bacher (19.) took the lead.

In the further course Innsbruck had the better chances and at times pressed vehemently for the equalizer. But also Villach, where Travis Oleksuk was out due to injury, found good opportunities. Nevertheless, the "Sharks" managed to equalize: Luckily, the puck bounced back into the slot to Alex Dostie (56.), using the backhand. The subsequent overtime ended goalless. In the penalty shootout, Villach scored on the first two attempts, while Alexander Schmidt saved both of the Tyroleans.
