The spusu Vienna Capitals found the right answer to the 1-3 defeat at home against Ljubljana on Friday, as the two-time win2day ICE Hockey League champions defeated bottom-ranked BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg, which were without Jarusek, Spannring and Caffi for the first time, 5-1, with the visitors taking an early lead through Andreas Heier (4.), who converted a rebound. The “Caps” responded two minutes later, when Matt Bradley and Max Zimmer (5.) appeared alone in front of David Madlener and gave the goalkeeper no chance. Vienna then took the lead on the power play in the 12th minute, with Darik Angeli’s deflection. And then the home team doubled the lead, a good two and a half minutes before the first intermission Max Zimmer made it 3-1 with his 25th goal of the season.

From the second period on, Vienna dominated the game, had clearly more chances – for example midway through the game through Alex Wall, coming from the right side and missing close. At the beginning of the final period Jeremy Gregoire (42.) increased the lead and captain Mario Fischer (58.) scored the final goal after a nice assist from Ben Finkelstein.
