"I've heard a lot great things about the Caps organization, the Caps fans, and the city. I really wanted to take on a new challenge. I want to fight for the title and the caps have this chance and my feeling tells me that my decision was absolutely right," announces the new signing from North America.

His all-time highlight of his sporting career took place in February 2018 at the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, where he was goalkeeper of the United States in all five games. Due to the numerous successes of the 32-year-old, Capitals head coach Dave Cameron is looking forward to the new signing: "Ryan has shown in his career that with diligence and hard work much is possible. If you play at the Olympics for a hockey nation like the USA, that already tells you all about his qualities. He is an outstanding goalie and will give us the necessary and reliable security in the goalkeeper position together with Bernhard Starkbaum."
