KAC gets overtime win
EC-KAC recorded a dramatic 3:2 overtime win in Salzburg to take a 2:0 series lead. Klagenfurt got off to the better start on Tuesday and also took the lead in the second semifinal duel. Rok Tičar surprised Salzburg goalie J.P. Lamoureux at the short corner and provided the only goal in the first period. In the middle period, the Red Bulls were much more aggressive. They forced the KAC into mistakes and finally equalised on powerplay through Alexander Rauchenwald (28th). Afterwards, Salzburg pressed for the lead, but it did not come until the end of the second. Dominique Heinrich then gave the Red Bulls the lead for the first time in the 56th minute. But Salzburg could not kill the clock: 25.8 seconds before the end of the period, Ticar equalised in a 6-on-3 powerplay. The decision was then made in the 65th minute. In a Red Bulls power play, Clemens Unterweger scored the winning goal for the KAC, who underlined their away strength. With 19 wins from 27 games, the Carinthians are the most successful away team in the league.

Capitals turn game and equalise series
Vienna and Bolzano again met on equal terms on Tuesday: for the sixth time in the eighth duel of the season, only one goal decided the game. This time, however, it was in favour of the Capitals, who were thus able to equalise in the semifinals. In a first period with few chances, the visitors from Bolzano had the better offensive actions. Angelo Miceli was unlucky with a shot at the post- but in the 19th minute he served Daniel Frank, who was alone in front of the Capitals goal and let goalkeeper Bernhard Starkbaum no chance for the 0:1. Shortly after the restart, the visitors missed a good opportunity to score a second goal. They also failed to score on power plays and the Viennese came back into the game. 30 seconds before the second period break, Jérôme Leduc scored the equaliser. In the final period, the home side even turned the game around with Benjamin Nissner (50th) getting the puck over the line. The final offensive of the Bolzano team brought nothing more, so the series will be continued on Thursday with a score of 1:1 in Bolzano.
