Corey Tropp started his hockey career with the Sioux Falls Stampede in the United States Hockey League (USHL), where the forward won the "Clark Cup", the coveted championship trophy of the most important junior hockey league in the USA.

For his good performances, he was considered by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. He then made his debut in the world's strongest league on November 4th, 2011 - alongside Thomas Vanek. In total, the forward played 151 games in the NHL (6G|21A) and 404 games in the AHL (103G|163A).

In January 2021, Tropp finally moved to Europe, signing with the Straubing Tigers in the DEL. In the end, his stats included 22 points in 30 games. "Corey has a great character and is a team player – these qualities are very important to us, he fits well with the Caps organization. His game is extremely varied, he constantly tries to put his teammates, but also himself, in scoring positions. In addition, he looks for the way into the zones where it hurts. A look at his resume shows: With Corey we get an experienced player who will strengthen our line-up specifically", Head Coach Dave Cameron outlines the qualities of his newcomer.
