Last season, the Canadian made his European debut in the DEL with the Iserlohn Roosters.Joel Lowry was picked in the fifth round of the NHL Entry Draft by the Los Angeles Kings in 2011 and then had a classic "university career". The forward developed into a reliable hard worker with scoring potential during his four years at Cornell University. In 2019, the Florida Panthers equipped Lowry with a two-way contract. However, he has so far been denied an NHL debut. In the American Hockey League, the forward, who can be used on the wing as well as at the centre position, was convincing and played a total of 224 games.

Reunion with Sutter
Lowry will also meet Brody Sutter in Vienna, who has been a close friend of his since his youth. The two Canadians were trained as junior players for the Calgary Buffaloes. Last season, Sutter and Lowry were teammates at the Iserlohn Rooster in the DEL. "Joel is physically present and brings the necessary toughness. At the same time, Joel also has very good playmaking and skating skills. Like Brody Sutter, Joel also found the transition from the North American to the larger European ice surface easy last season. We are therefore sure that Joel will help us immediately," says Dave Barr, head coach of the spusu Vienna Capitals, about his new addition.
