Vienna signs new forward and extends contract with Hackl

The spusu Vienna Capitals announced the signing of Marcus Power. The 28-year-old spent most of his career so far in Canada and was a point-per-game scorer at almost every stop. In addition, the Viennese extended the contract with defenceman Dominic Hackl. The 25-year-old will thus enter his tenth professional season with the team from Kagran.

Power signed with the Newfoundland Growlers from the North American ECHL in 2018 after four seasons for the University of Prince Edward Island in the Canadian College League. In his debut season at the professional level, Power hit the ground running. In his first campaign with the affiliate club of NHL club Toronto Maple Leafs, the centre delivered the second most assists of the team from St. John's. As his team's third-leading scorer, Power played a big part in winning the Kelly Cup in 2019. In the following season, which had to be cut short due to the Corona pandemic, the Canadian was once again one of his team's best players. This circumstance allowed Power to have his first adventure in Europe in the 2020/21 season. The strong centre joined the Landshuter EV in the DEL2. There, too, Power was immediately convincing: In 47 games, the 1.83 metre tall centre scored 69 points (29 goals, 40 assists), which made the left-shooter the team's top scorer. As the seventh best scorer in the DEL2, Power returned to the Growlers last season. Power scored 153 points (62 goals + 91 assists) in three seasons for the team from his home province.

Hackl stays in Vienna
Dominic Hackl will continue to wear the jersey of the spusu Vienna Capitals in the upcoming season of the win2day ICE Hockey League. The defenceman, who came through the Caps junior section, will thus enter his tenth professional season with the team from Kagran. The defender can boast a total of 386 games for his home club. In those games he scored eight goals and 25 assists. Hackl was part of Vienna's last championship winning team in 2017. The 25-year-old was also in the ÖEHV squad that finished eleventh at the World Championship in Finland.
