A lack of chances gave EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV a pointless opening weekend, as the "Adler" were defeated by the Black Wings Linz (1:-2) and the HC Pustertal Wölfe (2-4). In total, the Champions Hockey League participant converted only three of its 60 shots on goal. Even with one man more on the ice, Villach has not yet been able to score, failing to score in their eight power plays so far. Felix Maxa is expected to provide a little more offense in the home opener, as the 24-year-old forward is ready to be back, in the past season he collected to five goals and eight assists. John Hughes and Julian Payr will be out in Villach’s home opener.

The BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg cheered their first season win on Sunday. Despite a massive imbalance of chances (13:48 shots on goal), the league newcomer won against EC-KAC with 2-1, to forget the 0-3 defeat in the opening game at Bolzano. The first line with Kevin Macierzynski and Patrick Spannring was responsible for both goals. However, the Vorarlberg team is still struggling a bit with their powerplay performance. Tobias Reinbacher, Matt Revel and Clay Kirichenko will not be ready on Thursday. Layne Viveiros is expected to make his comeback, as the former Austrian nationalteam player missed the entire past season due to injury.
