With a 6:5 win after shootout the EC GRAND Immo VSV snatched up its first win on home-ice, defeating Dornbirn Bulldogs for the 16th time in 21 games at the Stadthalle Villach. Dornbirn left Carinthia – after Monday’s shootout win at EC-KAC – with three points. In their 1000th regular season game since summer 2000 Villach got off a perfect start, as Martin Ulmer opened the scoring after 43 seconds. The “eagles“ took a 3:1 lead into second, where Dornbirn turned the game around with four unanswered goals within 7,5 minutes, as Villach had no punch on the defensive end. But the hosts managed to come back into the game with a solid final frame – and secured the extra point in shootout, where Alexander Schmidt, who replaced Kristers Gudlevskis after the 3:3, stopped all three penalties and Martin Ulmer converted the third one.
