The EC GRAND Immo VSV signed Travis Oleksuk, responding to the serious injury of Rick Schofield, who will be out for several months. The 32-years-old Oleksuk already knows the league from his time with the HCB Südtirol Alperia - with whom he won the championship in 2018 - and the Moser Medical Graz99ers. In 283 games, the Canadian center has so far scored 160 points (60 goals, 100 assists).

Travis Oleksuk attended the University of Minnesota Duluth, where he played four seasons (2008-2012) in the NCAA for the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs, scoring 155 points. He then got a chance to play with the San Jose Sharks farm team in Worcester Sharks in the American Hockey League (AHL). After three successful years, he moved to the New York Rangers' farm team, the Hartford Wolf Pack, where he had another AHL season. He scored 103 points in 274 games during his four seasons in the AHL and then moved to Europe for the first time to the HCB Südtirol Alperia. In his second year with the Foxes, Oleksuk won the championship, scoring 69 scoring points in 132 appearances for the Bolzano-based team.

"Travis is a very reliable two-way forward who is very versatile and fits perfectly into our system. He is a very valuable powerplay player with playmaking qualities, but equally strong in shorthanded situations. I'm glad that we were able to get him into our team," said head coach Rob Daum about the newcomer, who arrived in Villach today with his family and is expected to train with the Blue-Whites for the first time on Saturday.
