Salzburg have won ten of their last eleven matches in all competitions, only losing in a shootout in Ljubljana (29.11). The Red Bull are currently fourth in the table, eleven points behind the leaders but with four fewer games played than Fehérvár and Bolzano. VSV are currently seventh in the table, five points behind the important sixth place held by local rivals EC-KAC. Villach and Salzburg faced each other for the first time this season on November 1. Back then, the “Eagles” won 3:2 away from home. Chase Pearson scored the game-winner with just under ten minutes remaining. It was one of three wins for VSV against RBS in the last five games.
