Carinthian teams celebrate victories
Both the EC Grand Immo VSV (5:3 vs. Hydro Fehérvár AV19) and the EC-KAC (5:2 @Steinbach Black Wings Linz) were victorious on Sunday. For the Eagles, who celebrated their fifth win in a row, Scott Kosmachuk scored three goals. With 44 points, the Canadian is now joint league top scorer with Peter Schneider (RBS). Paul Postma was the man of the match for the KAC with a brace. The Klagenfurt team struggled for a long time against the bottom of the table from Linz. Both the first and second periods ended with 1:1, and it was not until the final period that the reigning champions were able to pull away and claim a deserved away win. Besides Postma, Daniel Obersteiner, Steven Strong and Clemens Unterweger scored for the KAC. In the third duel of the season it was the second win for the fifth in the table.

Villach and Fehérvár faced each other for the fourth and last time in the Regular Season. After three previous victories for the Hungarians, the Eagles now kept the upper hand for the first time. Villach maintained third place in the standings and further reduced the gap to the second-placed team from Székesfehérvár. Both teams scored 69 points in the current season. Villach, however, has already played one game more than AVS.

Narrow home win for Red Bulls
League leader EC Red Bull Salzburg kept the upper hand against the spusu Vienna Capitals with a narrow 3:2-OT. Ex-Caps forward Ali Wukovits scored the game-winner in favor of the Red Bulls in overtime. The home side started the game better and were already leading with 2:0 after the first period. First, defender Alexander Pallestrang scored in the eighth minute to make it 1:0. It was the second goal of the season for the 31-year-old, who missed the last three games. In the 15th minute Peter Hochkofler increased to 2:0. In the middle period the guests from Vienna got better and better into the game. With 15:9 shots they set the tone, but without scoring a goal. This changed in the final period where the Capitals scored twice through Matt Neal and Matthew Prapavessis to force the overtime. In this it was ex-Caps forward Ali Wukovits who scored the Red Bulls' fifth win from the last six games. Salzburg remains unchallenged at the top of the table. The Capitals, who have lost five of their past six games, are still sixth in the standings and thus on course for the playoffs. Already on Tuesday both teams will meet again.

Pustertal overtakes Graz

Due to the 3:0 home win of the HC Pustertal Wölfe against the Moser Medical Graz99ers, the South Tyroleans moved past the Styrians in the standings and are now ninth. Immediately behind them are the 99ers in tenth place. In the fourth and for the time being last duel of the season, it was the second win for the Wolves, with goalkeeper Tomas Sholl recording his second shutout of the season. After a scoreless first period, the league newcomer scored twice in the middle period. After just 45 seconds, Michael Caruso scored to take the lead. Eleven minutes later, HCP top goal scorer Jakob Stukel increased the lead to 2:0. In the final period, Dante Hannoun scored after ten minutes for the final decision in favor of Bruneck, which recorded its third win from the past five games. Graz, in turn, won two of the past five games.
