In the second game under coach Rob Daum EC GRAND Immo VSV has won for the first time. Villach ended its four-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory after shootout. The second-placed Viennese lost their second home game in a row - because they struggled on the scoring efficiency. The Caps had clearly more of the first period, brought almost three times as many shots on goal than opponent Villach. But the "eagles" took a tight 1-0 lead into the second period: in a four-on-four, Sahir Gill netted almost on the buzzer with eight seconds left. The middle frame was more defensive, with fewer chances, but rougher, with several penalties on both sides. In the final period, Vienna put the pressure back on and took goalie Pickard off the ice for a sixth man with almost three minutes to go - and it paid off: Jerome Leduc’s (59.) one-timer sent Vienna to overtime. There followed an open - but goalless – extra session. In the shootout, Kristers Gudlevskis and Martin Ulmer secured the victory for Villach.
