The center also won the Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks in 2015.

In 2018, Desjardin moved to Europe to join the "Adler" in Mannheim, with whom he became DEL champion in 2019. 291 games, 146 points, including 67 goals. In addition, he also scored impressively for Mannheim in the European Champions Hockey League - 43 points, including 24 goals in 75 games. Andrew Desjardins: "My family and I are already very excited. We are already looking forward to the team, the club, the city. My goal is to win. I would also like to achieve that with VSV. The team has already played a very good season this year, now we want to take another step. We have a very strong team, want to play a great season."

EC VSV General Manager Andreas Napokoj: "We are overjoyed that Andrew has decided to join us after many talks and despite numerous other offers. He has an enormous amount of experience, knows due to his time in the NHL as well as in the DEL that you have to work hard every day to be successful. Andrew is a leader, a 'mentality monster' as well as an exceptional two-way forward, who is physically strong and capable of scoring goals and is therefore a perfect fit for our team."
