One minute after the buzzer in the second period, Gilbert skated to the away net but Swette saved, then Krisztian Szabo passed to Reisz but Spurgeon tripped him. The second powerplay of the Hungarians went on without chances on Fehervar’s side but Yogan used a mistake from the defense and tied the game. Just after playing full strength, Wehrs got a two-minute-penalty buta part from Koger’s shot, Fehervar was not dangerous five on four. The game went on intense and fast-paced in the middle of the period, yet without dangerous shots on either side. For the second part of the period, Fehervar became more and more active in front of the net, Gilbert and Hari both threatened, then Latendresse passed to Harty who missed the chance. Yogan missed another breakaway and after Latendresse’s missed chance Antonin Manavian shot from the blue line in the net. Spurgeon and Clark could have tied the game again but Carruth saved all shots. Yogan fouled and Hannu Järvenpää’s team finally used this powerplay well, it was Manavian again to score. Dornbirn extends Zagreb's losing streak
Medvescak started more actively with Saso Rajsar and Ivan Jankovic putting dangerous shots on Rasmus Rinne. Brodie Reid answered two minutes ready with a wrister from the right, but Kevin Poulin was ready. Despite the better start for the home team, the visitors were the first to score - Jamie Arniel put the puck in the back of the net from the slot. Dornbirn took over the dominance and after a slow start controlled most of the first period, despite playing with only three lines. Matt Fraser controlled the puck between two defensmen and placed a shot, Poulin pulled an exceptional pad save on the rebound. Josef Balej a minute before the break found himself in a great chance before the goal after a nifty pass from the left board, but could't control the puck to shoot on net.

The Bears were better to open the second period. Samson Mahbod nearly misses the post on a one timer early in the period. The first powerplay of the game ensued but Netik couldn't find the net from the left. Right after penalty was over, counter for the Bulldogs and they double the score. Martin Grabher Meier found Arniel alone in slot who didn't have much trouble from close his second. In the minute 28 Dornbirn staged another quick counter, but Poulin makes another highlight-reel save. Medvescak's goalie was the only thing holding the home team in play, they could have easily been down 4-0 at this point. In the 32nd minute it was already 3-0 when yet another counter after a misplaced pass in the neutral zone and Dustin Sylvester was all alone against Poulin. Medvescak finally on board when Marko Poyhonen strikes on the rebound from the slot. Rajsar hit the post (36) from left circle. Dornbirn fully dominated in the second period and had a deserved 3-1 lead enterind the third.

Right at the start of the period Ziga Pance scored to put Dornbirn ahead 4-1. The Bears responded by cutting the lead to two goals with Poyhonen's second powerplay goal of the night. Ivan Jankovic intercepted the pass in neutral zone a couple of minutes later, but couldn't score against Rinne. After a counter on the right wing with a swift pass to Pance and Dornbirn restored a three-goal lead in the 48th minute. Rajsar and Wolf engaged in a fight a minute later with the Bulldog winning that matchup as well. Medvescak were creating chances but all the shots ended safely in the hands of Rasmus Rinne.
