EC Red Bull Salzburg (without Trattnig, Hughes, Herburger) started the season at the Red Bulls Salute in Garmisch Partenkirchen against HC Sparta Praha. The Austrians quickly took the lead in a shorthanded situation. But the Czechs stayed unimpressed and quickly answered. Then the game went up and down with advantages for the Extraliga-club. In the end of the first perod the Czechs took the lead. But Salzburg got stronger minute by minute: Quickly after the re-start the Red Bulls just hit the post. On the other side Prag made the 3:1. But the Red Bulls did not give up and were rewarded with the equalizer thanks two goals from Manuel Latusa and Alex Aleardi. The Mozart Citiziens survived in the last period seven minutes shorthanded and so the game went into an Overtime. There Alex Reichenberg scored the game winner for the Extraliga-club after just 27 seconds. Salzburg will fight now on Saturday against SC Bern or EHC Red Bull München for place 3 at the Red Bulls Salute.
