HK SZ Olimpija and the Red Bull Hockey Juniors have faced each other on eye-level in Hala Tivoli on Saturday. Predan (11.) and Schütz on a 5-on-3-Power Play (16.) gave the Mozart Citizens a 2:0-lead. The Slovenes stayed unimpressed and responded just 35 seconds later with a shorthanded goal netted by Koren. The match got chippy after 30 minutes. In minute 37, Meisaari netted the 3:1 for the guests, when playing even strength. In period 3, the game was more offensively played. The Dragons showed character and came back with two goals from Music in another shorthanded situation (46.) and Cepon (56.) – 3:3. Ljubljana had the better end in the Overtime: Zajc potted the Game Winner after just 62 seconds and fixed HK SZ Olimpija’s tenth straight win. The Red Bull Hockey Juniors will visit Jesenice on Sunday (17:00).

EK Die Zeller Eisbären won a high-scoring-game against EC-KAC II at home 6:5 and returned on the winning-street after seven straight defeats. Kernberger gave Klagenfurt a 1:0-lead in minute 8. This was a wake-up-call for the hosts, who decided the match with four goals from Dinhopel (16.), LeBlanc (17/pp), Scholz (19./sh) and Freunschlag (20.) within 227 seconds still in period 1- 4:1. Period 2 started as the first 20 minutes did: Again, Kreuzer netted a fast goal for the Red Jackets (25.) – 4:2. But, the guests took penalties then and this was quickly punished by the "Pinzgauer": LeBlanc potted the 5:2 in a Power Play in minute 27. The Carinthians responded with a Power Play goal from Hammerle in minute 39. Klagenfurt had a perfect start in period 3 too: Kompain netted the 4:5 after just 204 seconds. But, the Polar Bears responded just 183 seconds later with the 6:4 by LeBlanc. EC-KAC II tried to come back once again, but netted just one more goal by Pirmann (50.). LeBlanc was with three goals and one Assist the hero for his team.

4.692 fans (!) watched the Vorarlberg derby VEU Feldkirch vs. EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau live in the arena on Saturday. The support from their fans gave the VEU-cracks an extra-boost and they were quickly rewarded with a 2:0-lead thanks goals from Steurer (4.) and Fekete in a Power Play (8./pp). The home-team was the chief on the ice in period 1 (21:5-shots), but, EHC-goalie Mathieu Corbeil prevented a higher lead for the VEU. Head Coach Christian Weber has found the right words during the break, because the game changed completely after the re-start. The guests took over the control of the match (17:4-shots) and were finally rewarded with their first goal netted by Vallerand in minute 32. The guests continued hunting for the 2:2 in period 3. Alagic finally send the game into an Overtime in minute 49. And Vallerand has even decided the game for EHC in the Shoot Out. Besides, Lustenau has defended place 2 in the ranking with the two points.

EC „Die Adler“ Stadtwerke Kitzbühel and EC Bregenzerwald searched their luck in the offense. But, while KEC-goalie Tyler Rimmer stopped all shots by the Wälder and celebrated a Shut Out in the end, the „Wälder“ took some penalties and this was punished by the Tyroleans: Lidström (15./pp2) and Captain Lenes (25./pp2) gave the Eagles a 2:0-lead with two goals netted on 5-on-3-Power Plays. The first line was responsable for the 3:0 as well. In minute 32, Havlik was not to stop and potted the 3:0. The Vorarlberger tried to come back in the last 20 minutes, but Rimmer, who had 37 saves today, allowed no goal from 16 shots. Havlik has even added the 4:0 into the empty net in minute 60. Kitzbühel is back on the winning street after three straight defeats.

The Ritten won its third match in the last 10 days against the "Falcons". Today was the seventh victory in a row for the home team: in the last 19 games they have won 17 times. With 59 points to his credit, Ritten continued to occupy third place in the standings. Top-scorer Alex Frei has returned to play after missing five games. Captain Dan Tudin also came back, while coach Riku Lehtonen had to do without again the two forwards Kevin Fink and Simon Kostner. Hannes Treibenreif was the goalkeeper. In the Fassa always absent Dennis Kustatscher and Martin Castlunger (both sick) and the injured Massimo Zanet, Hannes Oberrauch and Martin Gran. The home team set off immediately on the attack. After 6 minutes the Rittner Buam opened the scoring thanks to Stefan Quinz. In the middle of the match captain Dan Tudin found the double, while 150 seconds later the Swedish center Henrik Eriksson drop the three. Both assists were signed by returning Alex Frei. Immediately after Fassa he tried to reopen the match with Andrea Odorizzi, who scored 3:1. On this advantage the teams also went to the last break. The "Buam" dominated the match, as demonstrated by the 35 shots taken in the net by Gianni Scola (against 16 shots). In the last period Renon controlled the match and nine minutes from the final whistle set the 4:1 final thanks to Adam Giacomuzzi. For the young promise was the first goal ever with the jersey of the "Buam".

The leader of Ahl was presented at the match against Hockey Milano Rossoblu with the absences of Marko Virtala (waiting for a final response on his health after the injury to Asiago) and Thomas Erlacher. The home team took possession of the game from the first faceoff and after less than three minutes they took the lead in powerplay: Armin Helfer was the author of the first goal of the Wolves. Thanks to this goal, Bruneck controlled the advantage without worries and then doubled with Marko Virtala in the middle time. Milan, still in the game, Davide Xamin created a big chance. The first period ended with the double advantage of the yellow black team. Milan tried to resist even in the second period but the home team accelerated in the last minutes of the central period. First Ivan Althuber in powerplay and then Tommaso Traversa allowed to Bruneck to close the second half with a 4:0 advantage. In the third half the home team administered the quadruple advantage and Colin Furlong saved three clear occasions of Milan that with Marcello Borghi didn’t find the first goal of the visitors. The Wolves won by 4:0 as they went up to 16 points over Lustenau (2nd). Colin Furlong earned the eighth shutout of the season.

The Gherdeina was in full strength for the challenge against Asiago, which, however, must gave up Jose Magnabosco and Federico Pace. Also absent Phil Pietroniro. Chad Pietroniro was sin the match. After just 8 seconds Frederic Cloutier saved a dangerous intervention by Michael Sullmann. The starting of the match very high pace and continuous reversals in the both side of the rink. The Gherdeina didn’t take advantage during 4 minutes of powerplay. The teams went to the first break, on 0-0, with 18 seconds still on the clock, which will be recovered in the second half, due to a plexiglass shattered after a charge. In the second period the Asiago was more enterprising but they didn’t find a way to overcome a careful Misa Pietila. The game didn’t take off even with four minutes of powerplay in favour of Gherdeina. After 40 minutes the result was always stationary on 0:0. In the third half there is the episode that decided the game for the only goal of the evening. Chad Pietroniro manoeuvring on the blue line in powerplay. Pitschieler recovered the puck and then run towards the net of Cloutier who saved. On the rebound there was Ivan Demetz who realized what will be the decisive goal of the match. The final was very hard but the Gherdeina won 1:0 as they keept seven points ahead of the Zell am See. Misa Pietila earned the second seasonal shutout. Asiago remained in sixth position but they lost contact with the teams that precede it.

The Cortina had only one absence: Andrea Moser. The Sterzing couldn’t field Kyle Just and Dominik Bernard. A good start from the home team that took the lead after two minutes: it was a double shot by Emanuele Larcher. The puck came back and Alessandro Zanatta was fast as he scored 1:0. Then there was the reaction of the Sterzing who created a lot but they got nothing. Just at the best moment of Wipptal, there was a nice play by Nick Bruneteau that favoured the goal of Riccardo Lacedelli. The Cortina closed the first half with a 2:0 advantage. In the second period the game was very hard-fought and full of rhythm. A mistake in the Cortina's defence allowed to the Broncos to halve the disadvantage with Brandon McNally's goal (28'). Then the last minutes of the second period were all in favour of the Cortina which put a lot of pressure on Vallini but they didn’t find no other goals. In the third half the Sterzing drew after five minutes with the goal of Jure Sotlar with a shot at the crossbar. At this point the home team thought to defend as they practiced a very defensive game because the match was also valid for the Italian Seria A where the two teams are fighting for a pass to the semifinals Scudetto. The third period ended in a draw of 2:2 and the overtime didn’t solve the game. Then the Cortina won on shutout for 3:2 with the decisive shot of Riccardo Lacedelli. Now after this match the Vipiteno (8th) has a point of advantage over the Cortina (9th) as far the AHL’s standing.
