Wolves fight back and capture lead in Finals

The HC Pustertal Wolves took the lead in the third game of the final series. After trailing by two goals Pustertal turned the game in the final period and celebrated a 6:4 road win. HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana is hosting Pustertal on Monday again for game number four of the Alps Hockey League finals.

HK SZ Olimpija vs. HC Pustertal Wolves 4:6 (1:1, 3:1, 0:4)
Both teams started with a lot of passion in to the third game of the Alps Hockey League Finals. The teams started on an even level. A first powerplay of Pustertal ended with no goals. After that Ljubljana had the chance to open the scoring in powerplay. But instead of scoring a goal the Slovenians received a short hander. Markus Gander scored the 1:0 lead in numerous advantage. Ljubljana came back strong and took control. Saso Rajsar scored the equalizer after ten minutes. The teams focused on defense from that time on and couldn’t score anymore in the first. Ljubljana managed to bring the drive into the second period. Luka Vidmar captured with a blue liner the lead. This time the wolves stroke back quickly. Armin Hofer tied the game in powerplay. Highlight after highlight followed in rapid. Gregor Koblar recaptured the lead – again with a shot from distance. But this was still not enough for the dragons. Aljaz Chvatal increased after a breakaway to 4:2. The HC Pustertal had a successful start into the final period. After only 13 seconds Tommaso Traversa punished a mistake of the Slovenians and decreased to 3:4. Winged by this quick goal Traversa stirked a second time to tie the game only three minutes later. The wolves were hungry and took full control over the game. Raphael Andergassen captured the lead for Pustertal in the 48th minute. The wolves did a good job in defending the lead. Armin Helfer brought the final decision with an empty netter and grinded out the 6:4 for his team.
