In the Alps Hockey League, the top teams are all in action this weekend. League leader EK Die Zeller Eisbären plays at the fifth-placed Hockey Unterland Cavaliers. In addition, the second-placed Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan will face the fourth-placed Rittner Buam SkyAlps. The reigning champion and third placed HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice are guests of the Steel Wings Linz AG. In the only Sunday game, SHC Fassa Falcons and HC Gherdeina valgardena.it will face each other. The Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan lost against Jesenice in the top clash on Thursday narrowly with 4:5/OT and thus had to give the table lead back to Zell am See. For the Broncos it was only the second OT defeat this season. They did not concede a defeat after regular playing time yet. The Rittner Buam SkyAlps narrowly kept the upper hand against Unterland with 3:2 and improved to the fourth place in the table. The gap to Vipiteno is five points. With only 18 (WSV) and 19 goals against (RIT), both teams have the second and third best defense in the league.

League leader EK Die Zeller Eisbären will play at the fifth of the table Hockey Unterland Cavaliers. With only 16 goals against, the Polar Bears also have the best defense and with 42 goals scored the best offense in the Alps Hockey League. After a bad start to the season with four defeats at the beginning of the season, the Young Bulls have won two of the past three games. In their last match, last Saturday, they prevailed against Gherdeina 5:3. The Future Team won two of the past three encounters, but on Thursday they were clearly beaten 1:4 in Merano. Reigning champion HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice beat Vipiteno 5:4/OT in the top match on Thursday and are only two points behind the top of the table in third place. On Saturday, the Slovenians will play at the Steel Wings Linz AG, who are in thirteenth place in the table. The Upper Austrians lost clearly 1:5 in Fassa on Thursday, their third defeat from the past five games. With 42 goals scored, Jesenice together with Zell am See has the best offense in the league. Zan Jezovsek (15 points), Maks Selan and Miha Logar (13 points) are among the Top-5 point scorer. Against the Steel Wings, Jesenice has won nine out of ten duels in the Alps Hockey League so far. SWL's only win dates back to March 14, 2021 (2:1/OT).

The EHC Lustenau is currently on a wave of success. With three wins in a row lately, the Vorarlberg team improved to the sixth place in the table. On Thursday, they celebrated a 5:4/OT victory in Kitzbühel. Opponent HC Meran/o Pircher were victorious on Thursday against the EC-KAC Future Team with 4:1. It was the first win after previously three losses in a row for the South Tyroleans. In the table, the Eagles are in twelfth place. In the only Sunday match the SHC Fassa Falcons and the HC Gherdeina valgardena.it face each other. The guests from Val Gardena are still in bad form with only one win after overtime. With a total of three points, the South Tyroleans are at the bottom of the table after eight games. Fassa has eleven points and is tenth in the table. Most recently, the Falcons celebrated two wins in a row. A surprising 6:5/SO win at league leader Zell am See was followed by a 5:1 home win against the Steel Wings. At home, the Italians have so far lost only one of their four games, but that clearly with 1:8 against champion Jesenice. Fassa last lost to Val Gardena on November 14, 2020 in front of the home crowd. In total, they have won the last three games against the Furie.
