Zell am See stays undefeated | Asiago secures third place

EK Die Zeller Eisbären completed a perfect Master Round. The reigning champions won Saturday’s Salzburg derby 5–4 against the Red Bull Hockey Juniors, taking victories in all eight games of the intermediate round. HC Migross Asiago clinched third place with a dominant 9–3 home win over KHL Sisak, securing the third pick for the upcoming quarterfinal selection.

The quarterfinal pick will take place on Sunday morning, with the resulting matchups announced through the league’s official channels. The quarterfinal series will start on Tuesday, March 10.

Red Bull Hockey Juniors – EK Die Zeller Eisbären 4–5 (2–1, 1–2, 1–2)
Zell am See finished the Master Round with a flawless record of eight wins from eight games. In the derby, the Juniors struck first, taking a 2–0 lead, but the visitors responded before the first intermission. Early in the second period, the defending champions temporarily turned the game around before Lanzinger equalized 3–3 in the 37th minute. The decisive final period remained tight: Tomazevic restored the lead for Zell, Eliseev tied it again at 4–4 with his second of the night, before Rappold scored the game-winner with just nine minutes left. As the Master Round winners, Zell am See will have the first pick on Sunday, followed by the Juniors making their quarterfinal choice.

HC Migross Asiago – KHL Sisak 9–3 (3–1, 3–2, 3–0)
In the direct battle for third place, Asiago delivered a convincing victory. More than 1,800 fans witnessed an offensive showcase from the home side. The Italians took a 2–0 lead inside nine minutes and went into the first break ahead 3–1. Only 43 seconds into the second period, Valentini scored his second of the night to make it 4–1. By the second intermission, Asiago led 6–3 and added three more goals in the final frame. Valentini completed his hat-trick, capping the night with the 9–3 final score. Asiago now earns the third pick heading into the playoffs, while Sisak will face the team left unchosen by the top three seeds.
