Znojmo conceded during first shift of the game when Ondrej Roman beat goalie Marek Schwarz from the slot. Schwarz then made several good saves to keep the score tight and after 15 minutes Tomas Guman scored first Znojmo goal in the new season, converting Csamango´s pass in front of the net. One minute later, Stransky got the Extraliga side back in front.

Eagles responded after the interval with more activity and equalized thanks to ex-Vitkovice forward Erik Nemec. Good spell of play early in the third period and second goal by Nemec eventually moved the visitors in front, but Vitkovice came back strongly late in the game when two experienced 1st line forwards Roman Szturc and Ondrej Roman scored in quick succession to win the game 4-3 for the home team.
