Znojmo loses preseason opener after leading twice

HC Orli Znojmo was defeated 4:6 in the preseason charity game against HC Kometa Brno after leading twice. The first preseason goal of the league returnee was scored by Ryan Culkin after only 47 seconds.

HC Orli Znojmo hosted a charity game to benefit cities that were particularly affected by the tornado to kick off their preparation. The Eagles under neo-head coach Jiří Beroun started strong against HC Kometa Brno. After just 47 seconds, ex-iClinic Bratislava Capitals crack scored to take the lead. But the Czech Extraliga team hit back three times. The equalizer followed at the end of the first period before two quick goals to start the middle period made it 3:1 for Brno. However, Znojmo fought back impressively: newcomer Radek Prokes scored the equalizer before Znojmo comebacker Anthony Luciani equalized. Before the second break, Jan Bartko even put the hosts ahead. Kometa Brno, however, had the better finish, scored three goals in the final period and finally prevailed 6:4.

Already next Thursday HC Orli Znojmo visit bemi SK Horácká Slavia Třebíč to play their second preseason game.
