The eight-seeded South Tyroleans, who finished the regular season just in eleventh place, continued their remarkable run on Tuesday evening by winning Game 6 of the semifinals 6–1 on home ice, advancing to the Alps Hockey League Final for the first time in the club’s history. Meanwhile, HC Meran/o Pircher forced a decisive Game 7 against KHL Sisak. The South Tyroleans prevailed 4–3 in front of their home crowd – the deciding matchup will take place on Thursday in Croatia. In the best-of-seven finals series, the South Tyroleans will now face the Moser Medical Graz99ers. Game 1 is scheduled for Wednesday, April 15, at Merkur Eisstadion. An earlier start to the finals series this coming Sunday is not possible due to regulatory requirements. Potential scheduling conflicts with Austrian Bundesliga football matches in Graz would have affected up to four possible home games for the 99ers.
