It’s no secret that the Christmas games of the win2day ICE Hockey League attract large crowds year after year. As in the previous season, nearly 150,000 spectators attended the 42 games played between December 21, 2025, and January 5, 2026. The most attended matchday was December 28, when over 26,000 fans followed their teams live – the highest single-day attendance in more than a decade. Read more
HCB Südtirol Alperia have brought Matteo Gennaro back to the win2day ICE Hockey League. The 28-year-old spent the past two seasons with Asiago, where he recorded 90 points in 89 appearances. In addition, EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV announced the signing of two-way forward Brett Budgell. The 24-year-old replaces Brett Ritchie, whose tryout contract was terminated early. Budgell joins Villach from the Bloomington Bison of the ECHL and will be playing in Europe for the first time. Read more
As usual, the Alps Hockey League was in full swing around Christmas. From December 22 through Three Kings’ Day on January 6, a total of 41 games were played. While this period is extremely demanding for the players, it represents absolute highlight game days for the fans – something that was clearly evident once again. Overall, more than 46,000 spectators flocked to the arenas, with over 1,000 fans in attendance at 20 games. Compared to last season, this marks an increase in attendance. Read more
The Christmas game days in the Alps Hockey League are over and the league now returns to its regular rhythm. Three games are on the schedule on Thursday, with the derby between EK Die Zeller Eisbären and Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel standing out as the highlight. Zell am See can take over the top spot in the standings if they collect three points and, in the parallel game, KHL Sisak fails to win in regulation time against HC Meran/o Pircher. Current league leaders Red Bull Hockey Juniors are not in action. The third game of the day features HDD Jesenice against the Hockey Unterland Cavaliers. Read more

Rittner Buam SkyAlps claimed a crucial victory in the top clash on Three Kings’ Day, defeating league leaders Red Bull Hockey Juniors and moving up into the top five. Three of the six games on this round required overtime or a shootout to determine a winner, with Bregenzerwald, Zell and Kitzbühel securing the extra points. Asiago and Gherdeina also celebrated victories.

HCB Südtirol Alperia have secured the services of Matt Cairns for the remainder of the 2025/26 season. The 27-year-old defenseman, who holds Canadian citizenship and a Slovenian passport, will join the team immediately and is available for selection right away.
